q The “Big Three”: Passport (with Visa), money, plane ticket
q Wet Wipes—Lever 2000 or Dove (may substitute for shower on some days!)
q Antibacterial hand gel (please be discreet)
q Toilet paper (one “just in case” roll)
q Toilettries, plus: Cold medicine, echinacea, melatonin, Tylenol PM, prescription drugs with the prescriptions
q Earplugs and eye patch (for flights and trains)
q Slippers (flip-flops double as slippers and are handy in nasty showers)
q Small mini can of Lysol for stinky/unsanitary bathrooms (i.e. on train)
q good walking shoes
q Clif bars as meal substitutes: $1.50/ea. feels expensive at Kroger – and the steal of the century after your seventh day of meatwad!
q A few of your favorite candy bars, just in case
q New dollar bills (the newer the better, banks usually try to help with this)
q Postcards of TX, copies of pics of self (conservative background) for gifts
q A small photo album or collection of pictures of you and your family/friends
q Only what you can carry: smaller IS better, less IS more; sturdy wheels are golden
q A great learners/flexible attitude
Don’t bring:
q US cell phones – they are on a different system
q Valuables – try to bring only what you can leave (and do so with the needy)
q Much of anything: think about Paul and Jesus
q A comparing spirit: “It’s not like this in America!” See the Russian people with eyes of compassion – as God sees them.
